Form 10C is the claim a member files to take out the pension part of their provident fund, or to get a scheme certificate instead, after leaving a job with less than 10 years of eligible service. There is no paper form to post any more: on the UAN Member e-Sewa portal it shows up as a claim type, “Only Pension Withdrawal (Form 10C)”.
Under paragraph 13 of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 2026, which replaced EPS 1995 on 29 June 2026, a member who exits short of 10 years has two choices:
The big change is timing. The 2026 scheme says a member who exits before superannuation can take the withdrawal benefit only 36 months after the last contribution fell due, or on reaching superannuation if that comes first. Under the old practice members could claim after about two months out of work, so anyone telling a leaver “file 10C after two months” is giving outdated advice.
A quick illustration: someone with 36 months of service whose wages stayed at Rs 15,000 throughout gets the Table IV factor of 2.98, so Rs 15,000 x 2.98 = Rs 44,700. Where the wage ceiling changed during service, the scheme uses a weighted average of wages at the end of each ceiling period, so expect a different figure.
Log in with your UAN, go to Online Services and pick the composite claim (Form-31, 19, 10C and 10D). Aadhaar, PAN and bank details need to be seeded and approved, and the former employer must have marked your date of exit. Most leavers file this alongside the Form 19 final PF settlement, since Form 19 covers only the EPF balance, not the pension money.
If you expect to keep working in EPFO-covered jobs, the certificate (or simply a PF transfer) usually serves you better, because it protects the service count towards a lifelong pension, while the lump sum ends that service.
Then the withdrawal option is gone. The money stays locked for a monthly pension, claimed on Form 10D at superannuation, or as a reduced early pension from age 50, and the pensionable salary and service rules decide the amount.
Not on the Aadhaar-based online route. The employer’s role is to update your exit date correctly during full and final settlement; a paper claim with employer attestation is only for members who cannot use the online route.
For the other numbered claims and which ones still matter, see our EPF forms guide.
